The Complete Oracle ULA Guide
It is important for customers to understand what are the ULA Product Inclusions and Exclusions.
Oracle has provided customers with ULAs on almost all products in their price list that has a
- Perpetual License
- License metric based on
- Number of Users
- Number of Processors / Cores on the Server
In our experience, Oracle has not given customers ULAs when
- The product contains a third-party non-open source software program.
- The product has a subscription license.
- The product is generally available but may have very large number of critical support concerns. (This has come out of discussions with Oracle sales people in some of our consulting engagements wherein they refused to include specific products in the ULAs)
Technology Products
- Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
- Oracle Database Options
- Oracle Database Management Packs
- Oracle WebLogic Suite (also, WebLogic Enterprise)
- Oracle SOA Suite
- Oracle Golden Gate
Application Products
Unlike the Technology products, the application products are generally not very great candidates for a ULA. Having said this, Oracle has sold a very large number of ULAs with Application Products. Some of the popular products that we see with our customers are:
- Siebel CRM
- E-Business Suite
- Financials
- CRM
- EAM
- Purchasing
- Human Resources (& its options)
